This nationally recognised unit covers the requirements for working in confined spaces, including planning and preparing for entry, implementing risk controls, using breathing apparatus (where required), and safely exiting the space. It also includes legislative requirements, site communication protocols, and emergency response procedures.

Theory:
Written and/or verbal assessment covering WHS responsibilities, confined space hazards, control measures, and safe work procedures.

Practical (including physical requirements):
Participants will demonstrate:

• Planning and preparing for confined space entry
• Conducting pre-entry atmospheric testing
• Safely entering, working in, and exiting confined spaces
• Using PPE and safety equipment correctly
• Following communication and emergency procedures

Note: This course involves working in enclosed areas, wearing PPE, and possible use of breathing apparatus.

• Civil construction and mining workers
• Utilities and maintenance personnel
• Manufacturing and processing plant operators
• Emergency services and rescue team members
• Anyone required to enter or work in confined spaces as part of their role

• WHS and legislative requirements for confined space entry
• Planning and preparing for work in confined spaces
• Hazard identification, risk assessment, and control measures
• Correct use of PPE and safety equipment, including gas detectors and harnesses
• Communication procedures for confined space work
• Safe entry, work, and exit procedures
• Emergency and rescue protocols

Upon successful completion, students will receive a Statement of Attainment for:
RIIWHS202E – Enter and Work in Confined Spaces

Refresher training is recommended every 2 years, or sooner if required by workplace policies, site requirements, or changes in equipment and legislation.

This Nationally Recognised Training course is delivered face-to-face by qualified and experienced trainers, ensuring a high standard of practical instruction.

1. Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN): Basic English, reading, writing, and numeracy skills are required.
   
2. Unique Student Identifier (USI): You must hold a valid USI to enrol.
   
3. Identification Requirements: Please bring three forms of identification, with at least one containing a photograph.
   
4. Arrival Time: We recommend arriving at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled course start time.
