Length/Delivery: Approx. 4 Hours / Face to Face
Pre-requisites:

Participants must hold current Statements of Attainment for the following units:

HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

and one of the following:

UEECD0007 – Apply work health and safety regulations, codes, and practices in the workplace

or

UETDREL006 – Work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker
If not yet completed, this training can be delivered prior to the course.

Course Description:

This unit provides the skills and knowledge required to perform a rescue from the top of a power pole, where a worker has been incapacitated while working at height. It covers hazard identification, use of rescue equipment, emergency procedures, and compliance with electrical safety regulations.

Training is intended for those working in the electricity supply industry or other sectors where pole top work and rescues may be required.

What Will I Learn?
  • Safe approach distances and electrical safety awareness
  • Preparing and using pole top rescue equipment
  • Performing rescue of a suspended worker
  • Emergency communication and response procedures
  • Applying WHS practices and site-specific safety documentation

Assessment:

Theory: Written and/or verbal questions covering rescue procedures, hazards, WHS requirements, and emergency actions

Practical (including physical requirements): Participants will demonstrate a pole top rescue in a controlled environment, including safe use of fall protection and rescue equipment.

Note: This course involves climbing, use of harnesses, working at height, and performing a simulated rescue. A high level of physical fitness, upper body strength, and confidence working off the ground is required. We will require access to the pole

Course Outcomes:

Upon successful completion, students will receive a Statement of Attainment for:
UETDRMP006 – Perform Pole Top Rescue


Refresher Training:

Refresher training is typically required every 12 months to remain compliant with most ESI network and WHS requirements.

This Nationally Recognised Training course is delivered face-to-face by qualified and experienced trainers, ensuring a high standard of practical instruction.

  1. Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN): Basic English, reading, writing, and numeracy skills are required.
  2. Unique Student Identifier (USI): You must hold a valid USI to enrol.
  3. Identification Requirements: Please bring three forms of identification, with at least one containing a photograph.
