This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to apply work health and safety (WHS) regulations, codes of practice, and workplace procedures in the electrotechnology industry. It ensures that workers understand their legal responsibilities, can identify hazards, and follow correct safety procedures in a variety of workplace environments.

This unit is often a core or pre-requisite unit for electrical and safety-related training.

Theory: Written or verbal assessment on WHS laws, codes, responsibilities, and safe work practices

Practical (including physical requirements): Participants may complete risk assessments, PPE checks, or safety observation tasks in a simulated or real work environment.

Note: Participants must be able to read safety signage, interpret procedures, and demonstrate safe practices. Basic physical mobility is required for practical demonstrations.

While this unit does not have a formal refresher requirement, it is recommended that workers revisit WHS training every 2–3 years or when legislation or site procedures change.

This Nationally Recognised Training course is delivered face-to-face by qualified and experienced trainers, ensuring a high standard of practical instruction.

This unit provides the skills and knowledge required to perform a rescue from the top of a power pole, where a worker has been incapacitated while working at height. It covers hazard identification, use of rescue equipment, emergency procedures, and compliance with electrical safety regulations.

Training is intended for those working in the electricity supply industry or other sectors where pole top work and rescues may be required.

Participants must hold current Statements of Attainment for the following units:

HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

and one of the following:

UEECD0007 – Apply work health and safety regulations, codes, and practices in the workplace

or

UETDREL006 – Work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker
If not yet completed, this training can be delivered prior to the course.

Theory: Written and/or verbal questions covering rescue procedures, hazards, WHS requirements, and emergency actions

Practical (including physical requirements): Participants will demonstrate a pole top rescue in a controlled environment, including safe use of fall protection and rescue equipment.

Note: This course involves climbing, use of harnesses, working at height, and performing a simulated rescue. A high level of physical fitness, upper body strength, and confidence working off the ground is required. We will require access to the pole.

This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to perform a controlled descent escape from an elevated work platform (EWP) in the event of an emergency, such as equipment failure or power loss. It includes the use of descent devices, safety procedures, and emergency preparedness.

This training is essential for personnel who work at heights in EWPs, particularly in the electricity supply and infrastructure industries.

Participants must hold current Statements of Attainment for:

• UEECD0007 – Apply work health and safety regulations, codes, and practices in the workplace

If not yet completed, this training can be delivered prior to the course.

Theory: Written and/or verbal assessment on emergency procedures, equipment use, and safety standards

Practical (including physical requirements): Participants will perform a controlled descent escape from an EWP using descent devices in a simulated emergency scenario.

Note: This course involves working at height, harness use, and physical coordination. A good level of fitness, upper body strength, and confidence working off the ground is required. Students must have access to a compliant EWP for practical assessment.

This course provides the skills and knowledge required to respond to electrical emergencies involving live low voltage (LV) panels, including performing a rescue and administering CPR. It is a mandatory requirement for many workers in the electrical and construction industries who may be exposed to live electrical work or who are safety observers.

UEECD0007 – Apply work health and safety regulations, codes, and practices in the workplace

or

UETDREL006 – Work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker
If not yet completed, this training can be delivered prior to the course.

• Safe approach distances and isolation procedures
• Performing a rescue from a live LV panel
• Using a low voltage rescue kit
• Performing CPR on an adult (including AED use)
• Recognising and responding to electrical emergencies
• Applying workplace procedures and emergency response protocols

Upon successful completion, students will receive Statements of Attainment for:

• UETDRMP007 – Perform Rescue from a Live Low Voltage Panel
• HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

1. CPR (HLTAID009): Must be refreshed every 12 months
2. LV Rescue (UETDRMP007): Must be refreshed every 12 months in most states for electrical workers
