Note: Participants must hold AHCMOM213 – Operate and Maintain Chainsaws as a pre-entry requirement.

Course Description:

This unit provides the skills and knowledge required to fell small trees safely using basic tools and equipment. It focuses on low-risk situations and follows workplace health and safety practices. Tree felling techniques taught are suitable for trees with a diameter of up to 200 mm at chest height.

Assessment:

Theory: Written knowledge assessment

Practical Assessment:
Participants will be assessed through hands-on tree felling and chainsaw operation tasks in a controlled outdoor setting.

Note: This course involves physical tasks such as lifting and operating a chainsaw, standing for extended periods, working on uneven terrain, and wearing full PPE. A moderate to high level of physical fitness is required.

Course Outcomes:

Upon successful completion, students will receive a Statement of Attainment for:

Refresher Training:

Refresher training is recommended every 2–3 years, or when workplace practices or safety procedures change.
