Pre-requisites:
• Must hold a current Traffic Controller Industry Authority Card (QLD)
• Must provide photographic ID and evidence of industry practice within the past 12 months
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be able to read and write basic English (WHS requirement)
• Must hold a valid General Construction Induction Training (White Card)
• USI (Unique Student Identifier) required
Course Description:

This Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) approved course is designed for current Queensland Traffic Controllers who need to renew their accreditation every three years. It refreshes traffic control knowledge, workplace safety responsibilities, and practical skills for safely directing traffic using a stop/slow bat.

What Will I Learn?

Assessment:

Theory: Written assessment using TMR-approved materials covering updated legislation, WHS requirements, and procedures.

Practical (including physical requirements): Participants must demonstrate safe traffic control techniques in simulated scenarios and submit evidence of recent industry practice.
Note: Participants must provide their Currency of Industry Practice form with proof of traffic control within the last 12 months.

Course Outcomes:

Upon successful completion, students will receive Statements of Attainment for:
• RIIWHS205E – Control Traffic with a Stop/Slow Bat
• RIICOM201E – Communicate in the Workplace
• RIIWHS201E – Work Safely and Follow WHS Policies and Procedures

These units meet the requirements for renewal of a QLD Traffic Controller Industry Authority Card issued by TMR.


Refresher Training:

Traffic Controller accreditation must be renewed every 3 years.

  3. Identification Requirements: Please bring three forms of identification, with at least one containing a photograph.
