Course Overview
This QLD-accredited training equips participants with the skills and knowledge required to safely control traffic using a Stop/Slow bat in accordance with Transport and Main Roads (TMR) requirements. The course covers planning traffic control, using radios, managing worksite safety, and applying correct signage and procedures.
Participants complete one day of face-to-face training followed by a mandatory 20 hours of supervised practical experience, documented in an approved logbook. This course is a legal requirement for those seeking Traffic Controller Accreditation in Queensland.

Course Description: |
This nationally recognised course (approved by Transport and Main Roads QLD) provides participants with the knowledge and skills required to control traffic using a Stop/Slow bat at worksites across Queensland. It includes planning and preparing the work, coordinating traffic, communicating via radio, and cleaning up safely in accordance with WHS legislation and traffic control guidelines. |

Assessment: |
Theory: Written and/or verbal assessment covering safety procedures, traffic control rules, and communication protocols.
Practical (including physical requirements): Simulated Stop/Slow bat control activities and radio communication conducted
in a controlled environment. Note: This course requires standing for extended periods, quick decision-making, use of radios, and outdoor work in variable weather. PPE including long pants, high-vis long-sleeve shirt, steel-cap boots, and hard hat must be worn. |

Course Outcomes: |
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for: Participants will also be eligible to apply for a Traffic Controller Accreditation through TMR QLD. |
Refresher Training: |
TMR-accredited Traffic Controllers must renew their accreditation every 3 years. |
