This nationally recognised course prepares participants to enter the security industry as a licensed Crowd Controller. It provides essential training in conflict management, WHS, and security operations, ensuring officers can safely and lawfully manage crowds, protect patrons, and minimise risks in licensed venues, events, and other security environments.

This course is delivered on behalf of All States Training by approved third-party trainers.

1 Day/face-to-face

• Minimum age 18.
• Basic English language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills.
• Current photo identification.
• Must be eligible to apply for a Queensland Security Licence (police checks and probity requirements apply through OFT).

Theory:

• Written and/or oral assessment covering legislation, WHS, and security risk response.

Practical (including physical requirements):

• Demonstrating negotiation and de-escalation strategies.
• Role-play scenarios of responding to security risks.
• Applying safe empty hand control techniques.
• Physical requirements: Students must be able to perform restraint/control tasks, stand for extended periods, and respond to dynamic security scenarios.

• People seeking to start a career in the Queensland security industry.
• Individuals applying for their first Security Licence (Class 1 – Crowd Control function).
• Those interested in working at licensed venues, events, entertainment precincts, or as patrol/security staff.

• Conflict resolution and negotiation strategies.

Upon successful completion, participants will meet the training requirements to apply for a Class 1 Security Licence – Crowd Controller function through the Queensland Office of Fair Trading.

• Completion of this course does not automatically grant a licence.
• Students must lodge their application with the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) within 12 months of completing training.
• Applicants must meet OFT eligibility criteria, including background checks, probity, and application fees.

Once licensed, security officers must complete mandatory tri-annual refresher training every 3 years to maintain their Queensland Security Licence.

This Nationally Recognised Training course is delivered face-to-face by qualified and experienced trainers, ensuring a high standard of practical instruction.

1. Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN): Basic English, reading, writing, and numeracy skills are required.
   
2. Unique Student Identifier (USI): You must hold a valid USI to enrol.
   
3. Identification Requirements: Please bring three forms of identification, with at least one containing a photograph.
   
4. Arrival Time: We recommend arriving at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled course start time.
