This nationally recognised unit covers the safe and efficient operation of a grader in accordance with WHS legislation, manufacturer specifications, and workplace procedures. It includes hazard identification, grading techniques, safe use of attachments, and routine maintenance.

Theory:
Written and/or verbal assessment covering WHS responsibilities, machine operation, grading techniques, and safe work procedures.

Practical (including physical requirements):
Participants will demonstrate:

• Planning and preparing for grader operations
• Conducting pre-start and operational checks
• Grading and finishing surfaces to specification
• Operating safely on varied terrains
• Completing shutdown and securing procedures

Note: This course involves climbing into and out of machinery, standing for extended periods, and performing moderate manual handling. Students must have access to a compliant grader in safe working condition for the practical assessment.

Further Course Information

To successfully complete the course, students must provide one of the following:

• Letter of Support – from an employer or supervisor with experience on the machine confirming the student’s competency,
  OR
• Logbook – showing recent operating hours and tasks.

If the logbook is not completed before the course, the trainer will need to return at a later date to finalise the assessment sign-off.

Refresher training is recommended every 5 years, or sooner if required by workplace policies, site requirements, or changes in equipment and legislation.

This Nationally Recognised Training course is delivered face-to-face by qualified and experienced trainers, ensuring a high standard of practical instruction.

1. Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN): Basic English, reading, writing, and numeracy skills are required.
   
2. Unique Student Identifier (USI): You must hold a valid USI to enrol.
   
3. Identification Requirements: Please bring three forms of identification, with at least one containing a photograph.
   
4. Arrival Time: We recommend arriving at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled course start time.
