Theory:
Written and/or verbal assessment covering WHS requirements, equipment checks, lifting techniques, and operational safety.
Practical (including physical requirements):
Participants will demonstrate:
• Conducting pre-operational checks
• Planning and executing lifts
• Operating the crane to lift and move loads
• Using communication signals and emergency stop
• Shutting down and securing the crane
Note: This course requires physical activity such as standing, operating pendant or remote controls, and observing
load paths. Students must have access to a compliant gantry or overhead crane in safe working condition for the practical component.
Further Course Information
To successfully complete the course, students are required to provide one of the following:

Letter of Support – from the student’s employer, supervisor, or site manager who has relevant experience with the
machine and has observed the student operating it competently,
OR
-
Logbook – recording recent operating hours and tasks completed.
The logbook can be completed prior to the course. If it is not completed before training, the trainer will be required to return at a
later date to finalise the assessment sign-off with the student.
