Pre-requisites:
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must provide valid photo ID
  • Must have sufficient English literacy and numeracy skills to complete the mandated assessment

Course Description:

This course provides the skills and knowledge required to operate a boom-type elevating work platform with a boom length of 11 metres or more. It is designed for operators working at heights in construction, maintenance, mining, and infrastructure environments. Successful participants will be eligible to apply for a High Risk Work Licence – WP class.

What Will I Learn?

Assessment:

Theory: Nationally mandated written and verbal assessment covering WHS legislation, safety practices, and platform operation

Practical (including physical requirements): Participants must demonstrate safe and effective operation of a boom-type EWP over 11m, including setup, operation at height, and shutdown.

Note: This course involves working at height, harness use, climbing in/out of the platform, and operating controls. A good level of physical fitness, mobility, and comfort at height is required.

Course Outcomes:

Upon successful completion, students will receive a Statement of Attainment for:
TLILIC0005 – Licence to Operate a Boom-Type Elevating Work Platform (Boom Length 11 Metres or More)

Participants will also be eligible to apply for a High Risk Work Licence – WP class with their state WHS regulator.


Refresher Training:

High Risk Work Licences (WP) must be renewed every 5 years. While formal refresher training isn’t mandatory, employers should reassess operator competency regularly as per WHS obligations.

This Nationally Recognised Training course is delivered face-to-face by qualified and experienced trainers, ensuring a high standard of practical instruction.

  3. Identification Requirements: Please bring three forms of identification, with at least one containing a photograph.
