• Must have sufficient English language and literacy skills to complete the theory and assessment
• Suitable enclosed footwear required

T This nationally recognised course is designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge required to operate a forklift truck safely and legally. It meets the requirements for a High Risk Work Licence (LF) and includes both practical driving tasks and theoretical knowledge of forklift operations, workplace procedures, and WHS legislation.

• Pre-operational forklift checks and safety inspections
• Operating forklift controls, lifting, lowering, and manoeuvring loads

• Legal requirements under WHS and licensing legislation

Theory: Nationally mandated written and verbal assessment, including WHS regulations and operational knowledge

Practical (including physical requirements): Participants must demonstrate safe forklift operation, including pre-start checks, load movement, travel, turning, stacking, and shutdown procedures.

Note: This course involves physical tasks such as climbing on and off machinery, operating controls, and maintaining balance. Participants must have adequate physical capacity and hand-eye coordination.

Upon successful completion, students will receive a Statement of Attainment for:
TLILIC0003 – Licence to Operate a Forklift Truck

Successful participants will also be eligible to apply for a High Risk Work Licence – LF class through their state Work Health and Safety Regulator (e.g. WHSQ in QLD).

While formal refresher training is not mandatory, employers are encouraged to reassess competency every 3–5 years. Licence renewals are managed by the relevant state regulator (usually every 5 years).
