Course Description:

This nationally recognised unit equips participants with the knowledge and skills to effectively perform the duties of a member of an Emergency Control Organisation (ECO), such as a floor or area warden, during a workplace emergency. The course focuses on understanding emergency response procedures, communication protocols, and the roles within the ECO.

What Will I Learn?
  • Identifying types of workplace emergencies

Assessment:

Theory: Written and/or verbal questions covering emergency response procedures, ECO roles, and WHS obligations.

Practical (including physical requirements): Participants must demonstrate warden duties in a simulated emergency, including use of communication systems and coordination of evacuations.

Note: Tasks may require walking, directing groups, operating alarms, and using emergency equipment.

Course Outcomes:

Upon successful completion, students will receive a Statement of Attainment for:
PUAFER005 – Operate as Part of an Emergency Control Organisation


Refresher Training:

It is recommended that ECO members complete refresher training every 1–2 years or as per workplace emergency procedures and state regulations.

This Nationally Recognised Training course is delivered face-to-face by qualified and experienced trainers, ensuring a high standard of practical instruction.

  1. Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN): Basic English, reading, writing, and numeracy skills are required.
  2. Unique Student Identifier (USI): You must hold a valid USI to enrol.
  3. Identification Requirements: Please bring three forms of identification, with at least one containing a photograph.
  4. Arrival Time: We recommend arriving at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled course start time.
