Course Description:

This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to perform a controlled descent escape from an elevated work platform (EWP) in the event of an emergency, such as equipment failure or power loss. It includes the use of descent devices, safety procedures, and emergency preparedness.

This training is essential for personnel who work at heights in EWPs, particularly in the electricity supply and infrastructure industries.

What Will I Learn?

Assessment:

Theory: Written and/or verbal assessment on emergency procedures, equipment use, and safety standards

Practical (including physical requirements): Participants will perform a controlled descent escape from an EWP using descent devices in a simulated emergency scenario.

Note: This course involves working at height, harness use, and physical coordination. A good level of fitness, upper body strength, and confidence working off the ground is required. Students must have access to a compliant EWP for practical assessment.

Course Outcomes:

Upon successful completion, students will receive a Statement of Attainment for:

Refresher Training:

Refresher training is generally required every 12 months or as specified by your employer or regulatory body.
