Pre-requisites:

Students must hold Statements of Attainment for the following units prior to enrolment:

  • SHBBSSC001 – Incorporate knowledge of skin structure and functions into beauty therapy
  • SHBBSSC002 – Incorporate knowledge of body structures and functions into beauty therapy
  • SHBXCCS006 – Promote healthy nutritional options in a beauty therapy context

Course Description:

This course provides the skills and knowledge required to perform relaxation body massage techniques in a safe, hygienic, and professional manner. It includes consultation, treatment planning, massage strokes, client care, and aftercare. The focus is on delivering a full-body relaxation massage to meet client needs.

What Will I Learn?
  • Client consultation and assessment
  • Treatment planning and contraindication checks
  • Applying a full-body massage using a variety of strokes
  • Understanding muscle groups and relaxation techniques
  • Hygiene, draping, and professional conduct
  • Aftercare and follow-up recommendations

Assessment:

Theory: Written and/or verbal assessments covering consultation, hygiene, safety, and massage techniques
Practical (including physical requirements):
Participants will perform a full body massage treatment on live models under supervision.
Note: Tasks require good physical fitness, strength, and endurance, including prolonged standing and upper body use. Students must supply a live model for assessment.  A small fee payable to cover cost of products.


Course Outcomes:

Upon successful completion, students will receive a Statement of Attainment for:
SHBBBOS008 – Provide Body Massages


Refresher Training:

Refresher training is recommended every 2–3 years or when techniques, equipment, or hygiene standards are updated.

This Nationally Recognised Training course is delivered face-to-face by qualified and experienced trainers, ensuring a high standard of practical instruction.

Important Information for Participants:

  1. Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN): Basic English, reading, writing, and numeracy skills are required.
  2. Unique Student Identifier (USI): You must hold a valid USI to enrol.
  3. Identification Requirements: Please bring three forms of identification, with at least one containing a photograph.
  4. Arrival Time: We recommend arriving at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled course start time.
