Course Overview
On successful completion of this course trainees in the resources and infrastructure industries will be able to demonstrate the correct
method for installation/removal of signs and devices in accordance with traffic management plans and controlling traffic using a STOP/SLOW
bat in accordance with approved procedures set by the Queensland Government.
The course will also provide the trainee with the knowledge and practical skills as a traffic controller to plan and prepare their work; coordinate traffic; operate radios; and clean up the worksite.

Please ensure that you have all of the relevant information available. Recognised Prior Learning (RPL)/Recognition of Current Competency (RCC) is not offered for this course. Please note Traffic Controllers require a CPCCWHS1001 Work Safely in the Construction Industry Induction Card (White card) to operate on work sites. This is not a pre-requisite in the Traffic Controller course held at All States Training |
Course Duration |
This course runs for approx 5-6 hours, with 4 hours required for refresher. This includes both training and assessment. |
Course Assessments |
The course will be delivered in two parts through on and off the job training over the following duration: Theory/Practical: 8 hours (nominal) Practical: a minimum of 20 hours To achieve a successful outcome participants will be assessed on the evidence collected from a range of activities included in the two parts of the Traffic Control assessment. Part 1 Off-the-job The knowledge component will be delivered by a classroom environment using the TMR approved training resources. Note: Unsuccessful trainees must be given an alternative written assessment. Part 2 On-the-job Participants must complete a minimum of 20 hours of practical experience in the workplace under the supervision of a mentor who meets the criteria stipulated in the Traffic Controllers Accreditation Scheme Approved Procedure. The employer must provide suitably experienced and skilled workers to provide the mentoring of the student. |
