This unit is designed to enable participants to meet the regulatory requirements to enable them to undertake a rescue from a live Low Voltage (LV) panel, not including overhead lines and underground cables, in the work place. The unit covers all mandatory requirements to undertake an emergency rescue from a live LV Panel. The unit is a requirement for ESI employees and must remain current to maintain authorisation/approval to work on ESI networks
To meet these needs the unit focuses on the practical aspects of undertaking a rescue from a live low voltage panel in a simulated environment. Successful completion of unit ensures that participants are capable establishing safe work practices prior to undertaking any work involving live low voltage panels.
Electrical supply network owners require that work undertaken in proximity to their assets is performed by people who are suitably qualified. This unit of competency meets part of that expectation.
The unit also provides participants with the necessary skills to effect a rescue and meets the requirements of network owners. It provides training with a qualified trainer that includes practical and theoretical tasks with an emphasis on the practical aspects of undertaking a rescue.
Upon completion of this unit, the participant should be able to:
Students who have been assessed as competent in this unit of competency will receive a nationally accredited Statement of Attainment and a Competency Card for their wallet so they can prove their competency on site, if required.
Current industry standards state refresher training for UETTDRRF06B Perform Rescue from a Live LV Panel must be conducted once every 12 months or as per organisational policies.
