This course is based on the National Standards for Licensing Persons Perfoming High Risk Work. It specifies the outcomes required to operate a mobile crane of greater than 3 tonnes (CN) capacity that incorporates a boom or jib which includes articulated type mobile cranes and locomotive cranes, but does not include vehicle tow trucks, for licensing purposes.
A licence to perform high risk work is required if workers use or operate high risk work equipment or plant. Licences are valid in every Australian state and territory, enabling workers to operate high risk equipment under consistent standards throughout Australia.
Before conducting any activities with the non-slewing mobile crane such as lifting and shifting loads. In general, a person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU) must ensure that people engaged in shifting loads with a non-slewing mobile crane greater than 3 tonnes has received sufficient training, instruction and information to correctly follow the specific procedures without exercising judgement.
