To develop and assess the knowledge and skills required to recognise and ensure the requirements of a safe work environment in relation to work near exposed live electrical equipment.
This course has been designed for anyone who may work, supervise or manage those who may be required to work near live electrical parts.
This course aligns with the training requirements of an Authorised Person under the Electrical Safety Code of Practice 2010 - Working Near Overhead and Underground Electric Lines
Participants are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) e.g. for Ergon Energy - industrial work wear including overalls or long sleeved cotton drill shirt (day night high visibility style with retro-reflective tape) and cotton drill long trousers and safety boots.
This course has been designed for off-job, facilitated learning.
The nominal duration of this course under normal conditions for up to 12 participants is 6 hours. The nominal duration of refresher training and assessment under normal conditions for up to 12 participants is 2 hours.
Upon successful completion of this course participants will receive a "Statement of Attendance". PLEASE NOTE that the Statement of Attendance is not an authorisation for the participant to work near exposed live parts. The Employer/Self-Employed persons must then in writing apply to Ergon Energy with the list of their employees for permission for these people to work as Authorised Persons* as prescribed under the Electrical Safety Act 2002 and the Electrical Code of Practice 2010 - Working Near Overhead and Underground Electric Lines.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Current Competencies (RCC) applications should be made prior to your nomination on a course. However, if you consider that a competency within the course is currently held, then an application can be submitted and accelerated learning can be considered, if the competency can be clearly demonstrated.
