This course provides the skills and knowledge required to prepare clients for cosmetic tanning treatments and apply tanning products using manual or spray techniques. It includes consulting with clients, preparing the work area, selecting suitable products, and following infection control, hygiene, and skin preparation procedures.

• Aspiring or current beauty therapists
• Salon staff and mobile tanning technicians

• Consulting with clients to determine skin type and desired outcome
• Preparing the client, products, and treatment area

Theory: Written assessment covering consultation procedures, skin types, hygiene, and tanning techniques

Practical (including physical requirements): Participants will demonstrate preparation, consultation, and application of tanning products using manual or spray methods.

Note: Practical tasks involve standing for extended periods, bending, and using hand-held spray equipment. A reasonable level of physical stamina, coordination, and attention to detail is required. Students will be required to supply live models for assessment.

Refresher training is recommended every 2–3 years, or when industry standards, products, or hygiene protocols change.
