Course Description:

This course provides the skills and knowledge required to safely operate a mobile chipper or mulcher for processing vegetation and organic materials. It includes conducting pre-start checks, setting up the machine, feeding materials, monitoring operation, and conducting post-operational maintenance in line with workplace safety standards and environmental guidelines.

Practical (including physical requirements):
Participants will demonstrate safe use of a mobile chipper/mulcher, including equipment setup, feeding material, handling blockages, and shutdown procedures. Machine/Equipment to be supplied by participants.

Note: This course involves physical tasks such as lifting branches, feeding material, standing for extended periods, and wearing full PPE. A reasonable level of physical fitness and coordination is required.

Course Outcomes:

Upon successful completion, students will receive a Statement of Attainment for:

Refresher Training:

Refresher training is recommended every 2–3 years, or when new equipment or procedures are introduced.
